Freshman and Sophomore Year Calendar
Throughout the year, do the following:
- Get the best possible grades in order to be considered for competitive colleges.
- Make a list of goals, both academic and personal, that you want to accomplish this year.
- Participate actively in community service projects which show character, leadership, and citizenship. Colleges like to see involvement in activities throughout your high school years because it shows focus and commitment.
- Start thinking about career options. Talk to your parents and counselors about the types of classes, areas of study, and jobs that you think you would most enjoy.
- Visit Mr. Will regularly to discuss your college plans.
Consider signing up for Advanced Placement and/or Honors courses in the 11th grade. Colleges like to see that you are willing to challenge yourself by taking the most demanding courses available.
Junior Year Calendar
Throughout the year, do the following:
- Get the best possible grades in order to be considered for competitive colleges.

- Consult college guidebooks and university web sites and learn about admissions requirements. Visit Mr. Will regularly to discuss your college plan.

Register for the May or June SAT I or SAT II (SAT II test cannot be taken on the same day as SAT I)

Send for college information from schools to which you are considering applying to.
Continue to correspond with colleges.

Continue to research collges that interest you. The internet is a wonderful resource. If possible, visit college campuses to finalize your choices.

Meet with Mr. Will to finalize plans.
Register for any college entrance tests not yet completed, SAT I, SAT II, and TOEFL
Download applications from web sites of prospective colleges
Request any additional teacher recommendations to be placed in your Senior File.
Fill out financial aid form as soon as possible after September 15th, if required.
Work on writing excellent college essays.
Complete letter of recommendation worksheet.

Send off completed applications, according to specific deadlines

Notify Mr. Will of acceptances to colleges.

Make sure you have received financial aid offers from all schools before rejecting any offers.
Indicate to the admission office where you are wait-listed, that you are interested in being considered at a later date.
Contact any colleges from whom you have not received final answers.
Write to any college from whom you did not accept an offer of admission and indicate your plans to attend somewhere else.
